Daily lepidopterans

Description:

The Nymphalidae include showy species such as the strawberry butterfly (Charaxes jasius) which is common in the bush around Gratteri, but undetectable because it flies high above the trees. Its larva develops on the strawberry tree (armulinu). The Painted Ladies live in the clearings on the edge of the woods; the most original, the Peacock, on whose wings it seems that there are some coloured eyes, is rare and localized in our area, while the small Melitee are common in the meadows.
