Two Pagenstecher lecythi

Description:

Pagenstecher lecythi with characteristic shape with disc foot, ovoid body, high flared lip and handle from the neck to the shoulder. The two vessels are decorated with black figures on a ceramic background, saved and coated with tan-colored engobe, a technique which incorporates the more ancient one consisting of black figures. Each vessel features elegant female figures (a dancer? Artemis?) with chiton and in one of them a gash on the front leaves a breast uncovered.
