The Herbarium of Minà Palumbo

SHORT DESCRIPTION:

The herbarium is one of the most distinguished collections of the museum. it consists of a historical and a modern part. The historical
part was composed by Minà Palumbo between 1834 and 1874. It includes approximately 7000 dried artefacts divided into 110 document
cases, belonging to 1340 specific and infraspecific taxa collected almost exclusively in the Madonie (The flora of the Madonie amounts to about 1,700 taxa). It is possible to add to the herbarium: a collection of 64 cryptogams collected by Bivona Bernardi and some special collections of dried vine and ash with all the varieties known at the time, accompanied by some interesting notes on distribution, productivity and diseases.
